A 14 DAY MEDICAL MISSION SETS TO COMMENCE IN ABIA, PATIENTS TO HAVE FREE SURGERIES, CONSULTATIONS

All is now set for the commencement of a 14 day foreign humanitarian medical mission being organized by the Abia state government in partnership with an NGO and Belgium based medical mission, REVIVE-VZW in Umuahia.

Addressing the press at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia prior to the commencement of the exercise, the leader of the mission Dr. DE GEZELLE HERMAN said that the medical mission will feature free surgeries for the poor and general consultations.

He said the areas of surgery include; Hernia repairs and Hydroceles, Fibroma and Caesarean operations among others, adding that they have carried out same mission in other African countries such as Ivory Coast, Benin Republic, Madagascar, Morocco, Gambia among others.

Dr Herman disclosed that they target is to conduct over sixty surgery cases before the end of the 14 days, adding that there is no age bracket for the beneficiaries.

Contributing, some members of the team including Mr Smart Oriaku and Barr. Eme Okechukwu Owen commended Governor Alex Otti for his support to the team.

They said that the medical mission is their own way of giving back to the society and thanked the Medical Director of FMC, Professor Azubuike Onyebuchi for his support to the team.

The free humanitarian medical mission which commences tommorow (Monday) at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Umuahia and Okaiuga Nkwoegwu Civic centre in Umuahia North LGA, would feature over one thousand general consultations.
